The Facts- 1 in 4 people are affected by a mental health problem in Northern Ireland each year - The cost of mental health in Northern Ireland to the Assembly is approximately £1,680 per head of the population, not taking account of the huge emotional cost - In comparison, investing in preventative psychological therapies, such as counselling, would cost just £250 per person receiving treatment While we deliver counselling sessions without charge, each session costs New Life Counselling, as we have fully trained and accredited counsellors as well as providing appropriate rooms to deliver the counselling in New Life Counselling is a charity, meaning that all funds raised go directly into supporting people through counselling. We have long waiting lists as people reach the decision that they need some additional emotional support to aid them in taking control of their lives and therefore constantly need additional funds to meet this need. We are very fortunate as the Government recognises the value of counselling and funds some of our work, however, the more we raise, the more people we can support.
