New Life Counselling has been widely recognised by statutory agencies such as the Public Health Agency and Belfast Trust for our quality of service provision, as well as being well received within the local community. A great deal of this respect comes from the personal approach offered to clients and the diversity in the therapeutic styles utilised by our staff (this includes play, drama, arts and music therapy, psychodrama methods) which are targeted as best meets the needs of the clients. We offer open ended access to therapy rather than restricting clients to a limited number of sessions. Currently 20% of our referrals are received from GPs with a further 11% coming from Health and Social Services. GPs who have previously used our services continue to do so and have valued the partnership approach to provision of care to their clients. We are keen to develop opportunities to work in more extensive partnerships with GP practices through the Direct Enhanced Services approach. The benefits of counselling within the wider services of the GP has been widely recognised but there is often limited access to these services. The recent Bamford review of mental health has emphasised the need for early intervention on mental health issues and the benefits of meeting these needs in the community. As a health care provider you will be well aware that early intervention through the provision of counselling can prevent more serious mental health problems at a later stage. By engaging partnership with GPs, New Life Counselling would aim to provide counselling services on a more extensive basis. If you have an interest in this service please contact us to discuss this further. |
