New Life Counselling offers counselling for individuals, couples and groups to those over 25 years of age, which specifically includes older people (50+). Counselling in a one to one setting gives the person the opportunity to explore significant life experiences with a counsellor in a confidential, safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment. Counselling helps the individual to identify and implement different ways of managing challenging experiences which in turn impacts on, and improves, their physical, emotional and mental well-being.
Our counsellors have provided experiential group work for the past six years. Programmes are tailor made and aim to meet the needs of group participants. They include taster workshops, ten week courses and year long therapy groups. The method of psychodrama psychotherapy uses action and role play as well as words, to enhance creativity and spontaneity. This helps individuals to build on their self esteem and confidence in how to relate to others and ultimately create personal and social change.
Group work is suitable for anyone who wants to change, who can commit to a group for an agreed period of time and who has difficulties of an ongoing nature such as depression, relationship difficulties, isolation, wanting to find out who they are and what they need.
A range of counselling services are available and are offered within the centre according to individual or group needs. These include:
- One to One Counselling
- Parenting Skills Programmes
- Self-help Groups
- Couples Counselling
